Description
I was originally hired by the professional services group of Software Spectrum, Inc. (SSI), at the time, the world’s largest software reseller, in September 2000. SSI’s professional services group was acquired in December 2000 by Pivotal Corporation.
My responsibilities with Pivotal were primarily centered on consulting with customers in various industries (financial, computer software, insurance, supply chain, etc.) to provide custom solutions using Pivotal’s robust customer relationship management (CRM) suite.
This process included pre-sales meetings, business requirement design sessions, technical sessions designing a custom solution, implementing the necessary customizations and configuration, deploying the new tools, and follow-up support. For most projects, I was the technical leader of teams of designers and developers all working on multiple projects at a time. This required working closely with customers as well as our internal sales teams, business analysts, and project managers; a proficient knowledge of the software; the ability to learn a variety of business processes for vastly different companies in a short amount of time in order to provide the most comprehensive solution for the customer.
